Force Awards 2017

Bernard Martel, professor at UMET (Univ. Lille), Nicolas Blanchemain, lecturer at INSERM U1008 (Univ Lille) and Guillaume Vermet (Cousin Biotech Society) received the Collaborative Project Award in the framework of the Force Awards 2017. This competition, animated by the Hauts-de-France Region and the Regional Agency for Development and Innovation since 2015, aims to encourage the creation of regional partnerships between academic research and companies by promoting exemplary approaches and the valorisation of teams carrying innovative projects. The collaborative project consisted in developing a textile implant that reduces pain following the operation of the abdominal hernia. The collaboration began in 2009 as part of a CIFRE thesis followed by the transfer of technology carried out by the doctoral student following his recruitment within the R & D department of the company. Clinical trials will be conducted very soon and once the authorization of the High Authority of Health obtained, this innovative implant can then be put on the market by 2020.
